INDUCTION AT MOTHERWELL Posted on 27 Feb 2020  |  Full Presbytery

The Rev. Dr Alistair S May was on Tuesday evening, 25 February 2020, Inducted to the Pastoral Charge of Dalziel St. Andrew’s Parish Church in Motherwell, the first induction in almost two years. There was a good turn-out of members of the Presbytery to welcome Dr May, as well as a number of visitors from the Presbyteries of Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Irvine and Kilmarnock, who “associated” with the Presbytery on this happy occasion.

The occasion was presided over by the Rev. Maxine Buck, Auxiliary Minister, Moderator of the Presbytery, and the Rev. Dr Peter H Donald, minister at Airdrie: Cairnlea, conducted worship and preached a fine sermon based on Matthew 3:17-4:1 - the Baptism of Jesus - and our common baptismal calling as disciples of Jesus.

The congregation of Motherwell: Dalziel St Andrew’s also turned out in good strength on what was, given the recent weather, a ‘tolerable’ night, and the whole company was in fine voice in giving praise to the Lord. The adjacent photograph shows Dr May receiving the communion vessels from members of the Boys’ Brigade company attached to the congregation.
