World and Community Interests Committee

About the World and Community Interests Committee

The principal ​remit of this committee is to alert the Presbytery to issues of concern and interest to church life locally and internationally which may impact on the lives of those we represent.

it is also charged with fostering and maintaining Ecumenical, World Church and Societal links, and to act as a link between congregations, the Presbytery, and the National Church in in regard to these areas of interests, and to maintain and promote the Presbytery’s interests in regard to State Education provision and chaplaincy in schools.

Committee Remit

To bring important issues affecting the World Church to Presbytery’s attention.

To establish links in areas of concern and interest to Presbytery and its congregations.

To act as a link between the Ecumenical Relations Committee and World Mission Council and the congregations of Presbytery.

To inform the Ecumenical Relations Committee and the World Mission Council of significant events relating to the world Church taking place within Presbytery.

To support and encourage the work of Presbytery’s Mission Partners, including through organisation of deputation tours.

To act as a link between Christian Aid and Presbytery.

‘History in the Making’ reflects on issues and topics of World Mission in the past century and their relevance today.
