RESTORATION WORK AT BOTHWELL Posted on 10 Apr 2017
The Minister and Kirk Session of Bothwell Parish Church recently welcome the Princess Royal to a service marking the restoration of the Quire of the Church which dates back to 1398 and time of the Third Earl of Douglas, “Archibald the Grim.” The Rededication service on Wednesday 22nd March marked the culmination of a five year project, costing almost £2m. The Bothwell building is the oldest Collegiate Church still in use for worship, and has undergone several restorations and extensions to the original building over the years, the church itself having been restored in 1898, and the Nave and Tower altered in 1933.
