PRESBYTERY PLAUDITS Posted on 08 Feb 2017  |  Website

At the February meeting of Hamilton Presbytery, the Moderator, the Rev. Gavin Black, expressed the thanks and appreciation of the whole Presbytery and its constituent congregations to Mrs Jen Robertson, the Schools and Churches Development Worker, who has completed ten years service in her current role. Her contribution across Lanarkshire is widely valued in both church and schools settings, and the commitment, energy and insight she brings into working with young people is immense. Jen’s post is a unique venture funded jointly by the Presbytery and Scripture Union (Scotland).

The Moderator also thanked Miss Sheena Bell, who has decided to retire from her role as a Reader within the Church of Scotland. Mr Black commented on the wide and varied contribution Sheena has made to a number of congregations across the Presbytery who greatly benefitted from her gifts and skills, and wished her well in retirement.

VISIT OF MINISTRIES CONVENER Posted on 08 Feb 2017  |  Website

The Presbytery welcomed the Rev. Neil Glover, convener of the Ministries Council, to its last meeting. The main focus of the business was on the work of Presbytery planning, and Mr Glover was present to speak of the new concept of Hub Ministries. He explored and explained a number of ideas relating to the scheme which is in essence about finding a new way of congregations working together and sharing full-time Ministers of Word and Sacrament without resort to multiple linkages and unions.

The Church of Scotland Presbytery of Hamilton is a charity registered in Scotland No: SC048680.
