103. OVERTURE ANENT LICENTIATES

presentation of the Overture, giving in by the Rev. Michael G. Lyall.
It was moved, seconded
and agreed that Presbytery accept the Overture and there voted For 135 and nil Against.
104. REMIT: MANSE GUIDELINES
The Presbytery called for the report
from the Parish Planning Committee, given in by Mr. David Findlay,
Vice-Convener.
It was moved, seconded
and agreed:
1. a)
The Presbytery commends the Guidelines for Manses issued by the General
Trustees as a sensible model for Financial Boards in their planning for the
maintenance of Manses.
b) The Presbytery instructs Financial Boards to record
on a form to be devised by the Parish Planning Committee and to be included
within their Property Register confirmation that an annual inspection of the
Manse has been undertaken, signed by the Clerk to the Financial Board and the
Minister.
c) The Presbytery instructs the
Parish Planning Committee, through the annual inspection of Records, to monitor
the implementation of the Guidelines and to report on their implementation as
appropriate.
d) The
Presbytery instructs the Clerk to issue the Guidelines for Manses to all
Session Clerks together with this Deliverance.
105. SCOTTISH CHURCHES
INDUSTRIAL
The Moderator welcomed Deacon Lewis
Rose, National Co-ordinator for the Scottish Churches Industrial Mission, and
invited him to address the Court. Mr.
Rose highlighted the work of the Industrial Chaplains
106. REVIEW COMMITTEE
The Presbytery called for the report
of the Review Committee which was given in by the Rev. Scott Raby, Convener.
It was moved, seconded
and agreed:
1. The
Presbytery receives the report.
2. The
Presbytery notes the progress made by the Review Committee in its meetings with
Committee Conveners, and thanks its Committees and Conveners for their
contributions thus far.
The Presbytery called for
the report of the Co-ordinating Committee which was given in by the Rev.
Margaret F. Currie, Convener.
It
was moved, seconded and agreed:
1. The
Presbytery receives the report.
2. The
Presbytery agrees to send copies of tributes paid to Ministers to the Editor of
the Life & Work magazine.
3. The
Presbytery grants permission to the Rev. Peter Johnston for paternity leave for
weeks ending 20th and

Presbytery agrees to the request of the Rev. W. S. Dunn to retire on

Presbytery homologates the action of the Clerk in submitting the names of the

Presbytery notes that the Clerk has attested the Electoral Register for
Airdrie: High as containing the names of 383 members and 3 adherents.

1. The Presbytery receives the report.
2. The
Presbytery encourages all interested ministers and members to attend the
Emerging Church Conference on 18th November in Kirkcaldy.
3. The
Presbytery encourages Local Area Mission Committees to organise a Church
exchange on Christ the King Sunday, 20th November, 2005, whereby
each Church send representatives to each other church in the Local Area.
4. The
Presbytery encourages prayer for the organisers, participants and young people
involved in the Uddingston Focus week in November.
5. The
Presbytery encourages Sunday Schools within its bounds to consider the Advent
Event organised by the Children’s Ministry Advisers on 2nd December
as an alternative to the traditional pantomime outing.
6. The Presbytery thanks the organisers of the Big Saturday for an outstanding day of inspiration and challenge. The Presbytery receives the report.

2. AIRDRIE:
NEW MONKLAND
The Presbytery approves the
application to alter the sanctuary to provide a meeting room and toilet for
disabled and to halls to form toilets for disabled costing £67,749 including
VAT based on contractors’ quotations.
Approval already received from Committee on Church Art and Architecture.
Approval is also given to seek grants and loans which may be available.

The Presbytery approves the
rebuilding of boundary wall, railings and gates together with secondary glazing
to windows at church and fitting double glazed windows at the manse costing
£17968 including VAT based on contractors’ quotations. Approval is also given
to seek grants and loans which may be available.
4.
The Presbytery approves the
refurbishment of bathroom in manse and ladies toilet in halls totalling
£21,549.33 including VAT based on contractors’ quotations being paid from funds
held on the congregation’s behalf by the General Trustees.
5. BELLSHILL:
WEST
The Presbytery approves the
erection of a telecommunications mast within halls’ grounds funded by T Mobile.

The Presbytery approves the
replacement of security gate at manse and fitting door at entrance to church o
conserve heat costing £1480 including VAT based on contractors’ quotations
being paid for from funds held on the congregation’s behalf by the General
Trustees.
7.
Further to the approval granted in
June 2004 for the replacement of the halls, costs of which have increased by
£191k based on contractors’ quotations, the Presbytery approves the sale of an
adjoining parcel of land to the builder of the halls for the erection of four two-bedroom
flats to cover this additional cost.
8 BOTHWELL
The Presbytery approves the
alteration of church to comply with Disability Discrimination Act 1995
totalling £3159 including VAT based on contractor’s quotation. Funds are to
hand.
9. WISHAW: CAMBUSNETHAN NORTH
The Presbytery approves the Professional Second
Follow-on Property Report and awaits the
response of the office bearers as to the contents and recommendations.
ADDENDUM
The Presbytery grants permission to Airdrie: High to
lease the Manse during the period of the vacancy.

Presbytery called for the report of the Vacancy Procedures Committee which was
given in by Rev Robert M. Kent, Convener.
